Ellen Degeneres lists Montecito villa with Sotheby’s International Realty

Ellen Degeneres selected Sotheby’s International Realty to sell her 10, 500 square foot estate in Montecito, California for $45 million dollars. Nearly 17 acres, it emulates a 17th century Italian stone villa with gentle sunlight and respect for its natural surroundings. Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi purchased the home back in 2012 and then renovated the 1930’s era home to fit the relaxed California lifestyle with a classic barrel-tiled roof, wide wood flooring planks, rustic exposed ceiling beams, 18th-century Italian tiles, and sturdy walls of locally quarried stone creating an air of romance and refinement.

After completing the renovations, and the projects were done, it was time for Ellen to move on.

“If you think of your home as a canvas – regardless of its style of architecture – you can put anything on it. I tend to keep painting the painting until it’s so done, there’s nothing left to do. That’s when I sell the canvas and buy a new one.” – Ellen Degeneres ( as quoted on sothebysrealty.com)
