Sorry for the late notice…but if you can and want to, there’s a Quiet Zone meeting today, June 22, 2010 at 2pm. The info below is from David Priver of CCDC.

Now is the time to “Climb Aboard”. Tuesday June 22 is the day City Council will address the Quiet Zone issue(File Attachment: QZFlyer.pdf (52 KB)). The meeting is scheduled to start at 2pm but it is advisable to arrive early so that we may secure seats. The meeting will be held at the City Administration Building, 202 C Street, 12th floor. It appears that the Quiet Zone issue will be first on the docket, followed by the increase in the redevelopment cap, which may be quite contentious. It is your committee’s sincere hope that the cap issue is acted upon favorably by the Council, as its failure would doom critically needed downtown improvements. We hope people will stay at the City Council meeting after the Quiet Zone is finished to support this item as well. Bring your friends and neighbors with you.

Your QZ committee is currently working on how we will put together a compelling sequence of presentations at the meeting. These will address the 4 major items considered germane: (1) history, (2) maintenance (to include the economic impact), (3) safety, (4) quality of life.

We have 300 Buttons available for the Council Meeting on Tuesday, June 22 which will be handed out as you arrive. If you already have a button please wear it to the Council Meeting.

Please do whatever you can to disseminate this message to anyone and everyone who is or should be committed to this powerfully important matter. This is an opportunity for which we have been waiting a long time. We must make every effort to see to it that it succeeds.

Also please find attached the Flyer for the Quiet Zone Meeting at City Hall. Print it and disseminate it wherever you can legally.

The Seminar has been Canceled!! I appologize for any inconvenience and will keep you informed when we reschedule. Thank you.

Please join me and Scott~Finn & Associates for a free seminar on June 26th, 2008. The purpose of this seminar will be to educate you on what’s going on with San Diego’s real estate market. With so many “experts” and opinions, people must look beyond the media and the hype and actually analyze the numbers – how many homes are being built? In what time frame? What are the price points? How much has already sold?

The evening will be emceed by Tom Blair, who is the Editor-in-Chief of the San Diego Magazine and Russell Valone, President of MarketPointe Realty, and Derek Danziger, Vice President of the Center City Development Corporation, will be the key note speakers. Again, this event will focus on statistics and facts, versus people’s opinions. Perception vs Reality will allow people to hear true experts on the topic discuss what’s actually happening and what we might expect in the near future.

When: June 26th 2008 – 6:30–8:30pm

Where:The Westin Horton Plaza, 910 Broadway Circle, San Diego 92101

Please RSVP to denny@sandiegoh.com

Light refreshments will be served. Free parking is available at Horton Plaza until 9pm with validation(validation can be redeemed at various locations within Horton Plaza shopping center – not at the event).

If you haven’t heard already, the Red Bull Air Races are coming to San Diego! Red Bull has chosen San Diego to be one of only two US cities to host this worldwide event this year (the other being Monument Valley in Utah). This year’s other hosts include Abu Dhabi, Rio de Janeiro, Monument Valley, Istanbul, Interlanken, London, Budapest, Porto and Perth.

For those of you are unfamiliar with the event, the Red Bull Air Races are “an exciting competition in which the world’s most talented pilots are up against each other in a race based on speed, precision and skill.” This event is unique in the sense that the races will be held in close proximity to the spectators and because of the extremely low flying levels.

The first Air Race was held at AirPower in Zeltweg, Austria in 2003 and becuase of it’s huge success in 2005, Red Bull began its World Series of Air Races. The pilots are tested on speed, agility and strength and travel at speeds of up to 250 mph and pull up to 10 Gs.

This should be an awesome event and I would check it out if you can. This just goes to show once again, what an amazing city San Diego is. Have fun.

Tickets are available by clicking the link here or by calling 1-877-840-0457. You can also email Red Bull at ticketing@redbullairrace.com
