Literally. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution(AJC), a 53 year old woman recently committed suicide to save her home from foreclosure. The Taunton, Massachusetts woman and her family were under financial strain and could no longer afford their mortgage. The woman, Carlene Balderrama, apparently committed suicide so her husband and son could use her insurance policy to pay for the home.
Apparently, Balderrama faxed a letter to the mortgage company, telling them that she was going to kill herself before they could foreclose on her home. The mortgage company called the police as soon as they received it, but they were too late.
The husband claimed that he was unaware that they were being foreclosed upon and said that his wife handled all their finances. And even though the Balderrama’s had tried to claim bankruptcy several times, they were denied each time.
Now I know times are tough, but clearly, this is not the answer. If you need help with real estate, please seek help. If I am not able to help you, I’m sure I can direct you to someone who can. Foreclosures can be very stressful, but getting help from someone who knows what they’re doing can help a lot.

It is sad that someone would choose death because of MONEY. If only she had called back months and months ago and let a professional know she needed help.
It is sad and very unfortunate. Hopefully we don’t hear about more stories like this.
